Cable Assembly Technician

Auburn Hills, MI | Full Time | $18 to $23 per hour | Day Shift


We are hiring Cable Assembly Technicians to build, test, and repair cable and wire harness assemblies for automation and robotics equipment. This is hands-on bench work in a clean, well lit, climate controlled production environment.

If you have crimped, soldered, and built harnesses before, we want to talk to you.


What You Will Do

  • Measure and cut cable and wire to length, prep and strip ends for assembly
  • Crimp pins, sockets, and terminals using hand tools and automatic tooling
  • Solder terminals and wire to specification
  • Install hoods, connectors, and hardware on wire harness assemblies
  • Apply heat shrink, sleeving, labels, tags, and spot tie
  • Build multibranch assemblies and run a small work cell
  • Repair and modify existing cables and harnesses
  • Inspect, label, test, and package finished assemblies
  • Meet time and quality standards on every operation
  • Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe


What You Need

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Hands-on crimping and soldering experience
  • Ability to read cable assembly prints and electrical drawings
  • Ability to read a ruler and work with standard measurement systems
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for a full shift
  • Comfortable working to a productivity standard
  • Availability for overtime, including occasional weekends
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English


Nice to Have

  • Experience building cables or harnesses for automation, robotics, or machinery OEM equipment
  • Experience with automatic or semi automatic wire processing equipment
  • Experience terminating Harting connectors
  • Familiarity with IPC-620 or IPC-610 standards
  • Continuity testing and multimeter experience
  • Knowledge of cable ratings such as UL
  • Basic computer skills
