Position Summary:

Requires a valid CDL; must be able to obtain Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.

The Preventative Maintenance Technician (PM Tech) is responsible for performing scheduled preventive maintenance services on company-owned heavy equipment and fleet vehicles to ensure safe operation, reliability, and compliance with manufacturer and company standards. This role supports the Equipment Division by reducing downtime, identifying mechanical issues early, and maintaining accurate maintenance records.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) services on heavy equipment, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, fluid checks, and inspections
  • Conduct basic mechanical inspections to identify wear, damage, or potential failures
  • Document all maintenance activities accurately using company maintenance tracking systems
  • Report identified mechanical issues to supervisors or mechanics for corrective action
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with company safety policies
  • Follow manufacturer specifications, company SOPs, and safety guidelines at all times
  • Assist senior technicians and mechanics as needed
  • Perform basic troubleshooting within scope of training and certification
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1–3 years of experience performing preventive maintenance on heavy equipment or fleet vehicles preferred
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of diesel-powered equipment
  • Ability to read and follow maintenance schedules and service manuals
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not required
  • Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
