Prep Cook - Now Hiring

Mrs. Hewitt’s Bakery is looking for an experienced, dependable Prep Cook / Café Line Cook to work in our fast-paced café kitchen. This position is responsible for preparing made-to-order menu items quickly, consistently, and according to our recipes and presentation standards.

This is a hands-on kitchen position for someone who is comfortable working at a steady pace, managing multiple orders, and keeping their station clean and organized.

Responsibilities

• Prepare made-to-order sandwiches, hoagies, grilled sandwiches, crepes, waffles, and other café items
• Complete daily food prep before and during service
• Follow recipes, portion sizes, and plating standards
• Work quickly and accurately during busy lunch periods
• Maintain an organized and fully stocked workstation
• Rotate and properly store ingredients
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and allergen-control procedures
• Keep prep areas, equipment, counters, and kitchen clean
• Communicate effectively with front-of-house and other kitchen employees
• Assist with opening, closing, and daily cleaning responsibilities
• Help wherever needed to keep café service running efficiently

Required qualifications:

• 1+ year of experience in the food & restaurant industry
• 18 years or older
• Reliable transportation to and from work
• Food Service license/certification: ServSafe Food Handler Certification
• Restaurant back of house skills: grill station
• Restaurant back of house skills: general food prep
• Restaurant back of house skills: expediting
• Restaurant back of house skills: safe food handling
• Restaurant back of house skills: catering setup & prep
• Restaurant front of house skills: front counter
• Restaurant front of house skills: running food
• Restaurant front of house skills: bussing tables
• Restaurant front of house skills: serving in fast casual
• Able to stand for duration of shift
• Able to comfortably lift 30 lbs
• Available to work: early morning
• Available to work: weekends

Preferred qualifications:

• Legally authorized to work in the United States
