Cafe Culinary Lead (PT) - Now Hiring

$14–$18/hour based on experience | Part-time, 25–28 hours/week | New Café Opening Fall 2026

Help Us Launch a Brand-New Café!

The Scott Family Amazeum is opening a new Headwaters Café in Fall 2026, and we're looking for a Café Culinary Lead to join our opening team!

This is a great opportunity for someone with food-service experience who is ready to take on a lead role and help build a café operation from the ground up. You'll help prepare great food, support Café Associates, provide excellent guest service, and help establish the routines and standards that will make our new café successful.

What You'll Do

• Lead and support Café Associates during assigned shifts.
• Prepare and serve food and beverages according to recipes and food-safety standards.
• Provide friendly, welcoming service to children, families, and other Amazeum guests.
• Operate the POS system and accurately handle cash and other payments.
• Keep food, beverage, service, and dining areas clean, stocked, and ready for guests.
• Monitor food quality, product levels, expiration dates, and station readiness.
• Support opening and closing procedures, special events, school groups, and busy attendance days.
• Help resolve guest and operational concerns and communicate issues to the Café Chef and Manager.
• Model a positive, collaborative, family-friendly experience for guests and team members.

What We're Looking For

• At least 1 year of food-service, café, restaurant, concessions, or similar experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years old.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to prepare and serve food safely and efficiently.
• Ability to handle cash and learn/use a POS system.
• Ability to provide direction and support to team members.
• Availability to work weekdays, evenings, at least one weekend day, and some holidays.

Previous shift lead, training, or supervisory experience is a plus—but we're interested in candidates who are ready to take the next step, too!

Schedule

25–28 hours per week. Availability to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and some holidays is required.

Starting pay: $14–$18/hour based on experience and qualifications.

• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• 18 years or older
• At least high school diploma or equivalent or higher
• Restaurant back of house skills: general food prep
• Restaurant front of house skills: running food
• Restaurant front of house skills: point of sale (POS) operation
• Retail skills: addressing customer complaints
• Retail skills: customer service
• Management skills: supervising employees
• Math skills: counting cash drawer
• Comfortable handling customer complaints
• Able to stand for duration of shift
• Able to comfortably lift 20 lbs
• Available to work: holidays
• Available to work: weekends
• Available to work: weekdays

Preferred qualifications:

• 1+ year of experience in the food & restaurant industry
