Position Summary

The Receiver is responsible for the accurate receipt, inspection, documentation, and storage of incoming materials, components, and products. This role ensures all shipments are received in a timely manner, inventory records are maintained accurately, and materials are delivered to the appropriate locations to support manufacturing and operational requirements. The Receiver plays a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production schedules, and ensuring compliance with company quality and safety standards.

Essential Functions

  • Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities against packing slips, purchase orders, and other receiving documentation.
  • Inspect incoming materials for visible damage, discrepancies, and compliance with company quality requirements.
  • Accurately enter receiving transactions into the ERP system and maintain supporting records.
  • Label, identify, and properly store received materials in designated inventory locations.
  • Deliver materials to appropriate departments, production areas, or stock locations.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to resolve receiving discrepancies.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through proper receiving procedures and participation in cycle counting activities.
  • Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare and organize documentation related to incoming shipments and inventory transactions.
  • Assist with shipping, inventory control, and warehouse organization as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area in accordance with company policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory accuracy, efficiency, and workplace organization.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety policies, rules, and procedures at all times.
  • Comprehend, retain, and comply with established safety programs and training requirements.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in receiving, warehouse operations, inventory control, or material handling preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and experience using ERP, inventory, or warehouse management systems preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret packing slips, purchase orders, and receiving documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and data entry accurately.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred

  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of inventory management principles and warehouse best practices.
  • Experience with barcode scanning systems and cycle counting activities.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, reach, stop, and perform repetitive movements throughout the workday.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.

Safety Equipment

Steel-toed safety shoes and approved eye protection with side shields are required when working in production areas. Hearing protection is required in posted areas in accordance with safety signage and company policy. Additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required based on the specific position, task, or work environment.
