We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented professional to support patients and families throughout the surgical experience. This role focuses on providing clear guidance, emotional support, and practical information before and after procedures to help ensure a positive, informed, and coordinated care journey.
What You Will Do- Meet with patients and family members to explain the surgical process, prepare them for appointments, and answer non-clinical questions.
- Provide education on pre-operative and post-operative expectations, including scheduling steps, preparation guidelines, and recovery planning.
- Offer empathetic support to help reduce anxiety and improve understanding of care plans and procedures.
- Coordinate with surgeons, nurses, coordinators, and administrative staff to help maintain smooth communication and timely follow-up.
- Review required forms, consent-related processes, and documentation needs while ensuring information is complete and organized.
- Assist patients with navigating logistics such as appointment scheduling, referrals, testing, and procedure-related instructions.
- Maintain accurate records of patient interactions, education provided, and outstanding action items.
- Identify questions or concerns that require escalation to clinical or administrative team members.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying ways to enhance the patient experience and streamline coordination.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to explain information clearly and calmly in a supportive, professional manner.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfort working with sensitive situations and maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical and administrative teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience in healthcare, patient navigation, counseling, care coordination, or a related support role is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and surgical workflows is an asset.
- Experience in a hospital, surgical center, clinic, or other healthcare setting.
- Background in patient education, care coordination, social services, or counseling support.
- Proficiency with scheduling systems, electronic records, and standard office software.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

This position may involve coordination across multiple departments and interaction with patients at various stages of preparation and recovery. This role is on-site and requires weekly travel between our Tyler and Longview offices.
