CNC Programmer

This role is part of our Hypersonics and Strategic Missile Defense business, which designs, develops, and delivers highly dependable missile systems for hypersonic and strategic missile defense missions. We provide integrated, mission-ready hardware that brings together multiple technologies into unified systems engineered to perform in demanding operational environments. Our tip-to-tail capabilities include payload protection and deployment systems, propulsion systems, aerodynamic interstage systems, separation systems, missile subsystems, shroud systems, launch systems, and payload integration solutions.
The CNC Programmer develops, implements, and supports machining processes for advanced precision components by interpreting engineering drawings, designing machining strategies, programming complex toolpaths, and troubleshooting issues directly on the shop floor. This role collaborates closely with machinists, operators, engineering, and quality teams to improve manufacturability, maintain product quality, and enhance overall production capability.
Responsibilities
- Develops and programs machining processes for complex components using Mastercam.
- Designs machining strategies and fixtures for three‑, four‑, and five‑axis CNC machines.
- Owns assigned projects from concept through production release and ongoing support.
- Troubleshoots machining, tooling, and quality issues directly on the shop floor.
- Supports and improves legacy part programs and existing production processes.
- Collaborates with Quality to interpret coordinate measuring machine (CMM) reports, dimensional data, and inspection results.
- Uses precision measuring tools to validate setups, processes, and corrective actions.
- Provides manufacturability feedback to engineering teams and customers.
- Mentors machinists, operators, and other programmers.
- Assists in standardizing best practices for programming, setups, and documentation.
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives related to machining and computer‑aided manufacturing (CAM) workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude with understanding of tooling, materials, and machining methods.
- Five or more years of hands‑on Mastercam programming experience.
- Solid print reading skills and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to read and interpret coordinate measuring machine (CMM) reports and verify data using traditional measuring tools.
- Ability to work directly on the shop floor to diagnose and resolve machining issues.
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of file and data management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in a manufacturing‑related field.
- Ability to read and write G and M code.
A current U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
