About this job
Job Description
We are seeking a part time recording and/or mixing engineer to work between 10 and 30 hours a week at our studio. We do receive online booking submissions on occasion, but our ideal candidate will already have a client list and an established reputation.
We do not pay a guaranteed salary to our engineers; we split sessions 50/50 with them. All payments from your artists must be received by the studio. We pay 50% of your earnings back to you every Monday. You will receive a 1099 from us annually. You may charge your clients anywhere between $50 and $60 an hour.
Responsibilities include:
-Booking your own sessions on a shared Google Calendar (there are no restrictions on schedule besides studio time that has already been booked - you can work any hour of the day or night!)
-Providing quality service to artists, delivering a professional experience not only sonically, but in terms of hospitality as well
-Keeping the space clean and making sure it is ready to go for the next session
-Corresponding closely with the company's partners about updates, cancellations, etc... basically, just stay in touch and let us know if you need anything!
Requirements include:
-A demonstration of your ear and skill as an engineer; this can be as simple as sending us over a few projects you've worked on. A formal education in audio production is not required, but please mention it if you have one!
-A consistent client base that you work with no less than ten billable hours a week, the artists may be local or remote
-A complete understanding of studio etiquette and workflow; prior experience working with artists in a studio environment is a must
-A complete understanding of operating and troubleshooting in your preferred DAW (Logic Pro, FL Studio, ProTools, and Reason are available here)
-A good attitude and a true desire to help artists achieve their goals (this goes a long way with us!)
