Flowers Foods is looking for a Route Sales Specialist II (RSS II) to join their Waterville, ME sales team!
Are you great with people, enjoy being on the go, and have a knack for sales? This hands-on role combines sales, customer service, merchandising, and training while giving you the opportunity to build strong customer relationships and make an impact in the field.
Flowers Foods manufactures many of America's favorite brands, including Nature's Own, Wonder Bread, Dave's Killer Bread, Tastykake, and Canyon Bakehouse.
As an RSS II, you'll work independently to service customer accounts, grow sales, merchandise fresh products, and train new Route Sales Representatives. This position requires flexibility to service accounts during designated receiving windows, which may include early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
Schedule:
This position may require early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, or other non-traditional hours based on customer service needs. Occasional overnight travel may also be required.
Route Sales Specialist II typically begin their workday between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.; however, exact start times vary by warehouse and route assignment and will be determined by the Area Sales Director based on business and customer needs.
You will average 45-55 hours per week, work EVERY Saturday, and have Sundays and Wednesdays off. (this is subject to change based on business needs)
What You'll Do
- Train and support new Route Sales Representatives and Route Sales Trainees
- Service retail stores, restaurants, and other customer accounts
- Order, deliver, sell, and merchandise fresh baked products
- Build strong relationships with customers and identify sales opportunities
- Increase sales through displays, promotions, and expanded shelf space
- Properly rotate products and remove damaged or out-of-code products
- Monitor inventory and maintain accurate records
- Follow customer service windows, route schedules, and company procedures
- Safely operate a company vehicle with a GVWR over 10,000 lbs.
- Complete required vehicle inspections, driver logs, and route settlements
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe vehicle and workspace
- Follow all company, DOT, safety, and regulatory requirements
- What We're Looking For
- At least 1 year of related experience in retail sales, DSD sales, or business-to-business sales preferred

- Must be at least 21 years old
- At least 1 year of related experience in retail sales, DSD sales, or business-to-business sales preferred
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card
- Ability to meet company fleet insurance requirements
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to train and lead new employees
- Dependable attendance and willingness to work flexible hours
- Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift/carry approximately 25 lbs.
- Ability to regularly push/pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to safely climb in and out of a delivery truck using three points of contact
- Ability to travel to and work at various customer locations
