Southwest Healthcare Services is seeking an experienced and organized Assistant Director of Nursing to support the Director of Nursing in managing clinical operations, supervising nursing staff, and maintaining high standards of resident care, safety, and regulatory compliance.


The ADON serves as a clinical and operational resource for RNs, LPNs, CNAs, residents, and families. Primary areas of responsibility include nursing leadership, staff scheduling, employee education, care coordination, administrative support, quality improvement, and infection prevention.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Leadership

  • Oversee daily clinical operations and complete regular facility rounds.
  • Monitor resident care and nursing practices.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and facility standards.
  • Serve as a resource for staff clinical decision-making.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and quality.

Staff Management

  • Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, and performance management.
  • Maintain adequate staffing levels for RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
  • Observe staff performance and reinforce facility policies and procedures.
  • Identify operational or clinical concerns and recommend corrective actions.

Staff Development

  • Assess employee competencies and educational needs.
  • Coordinate annual clinical-skills testing.
  • Support orientation, mandatory in-services, and continuing education.
  • Ensure departmental orientation and skills requirements are completed.

Resident Care Coordination

  • Assist with developing and evaluating care plans.
  • Address concerns raised by residents and families.
  • Promote respectful, compassionate, and resident-centered care.
  • Protect resident rights and confidentiality.

Administrative and Regulatory Support

  • Assist with policy implementation, documentation, budgeting, and nursing records.
  • Participate in inspections and investigations conducted by regulatory or accrediting agencies.
  • Support quality-improvement studies and corrective-action initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, sanitation, and operational requirements.

Infection Prevention

  • Lead and maintain the facility’s infection-prevention program.
  • Monitor infection-control practices.
  • Provide staff education and implement appropriate interventions.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Registered Nurse license in good standing.
  • Previous nursing supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organization and follow-through.
  • Comprehensive understanding of clinical practices and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to lead calmly and professionally in a resident-centered environment.
