Afterschool Graduate Assistant / Sitter for 2 Kids (UES)

Hours: Monday - Friday, 3:30 PM - 7:30 PM (Open to 3-5 days/week for the right candidate) Location: Upper East Side, NYC About the Role We are looking for an engaging, responsible, and dependable graduate student or recent post-grad to assist with our two school-aged girls (ages 6 and 10) during the late afternoon and early evening. This position is ideal for someone pursuing a degree in education, child psychology, social work, or a related field who wants a consistent, well-compensated part-time schedule that fits around morning classes or practicums. Key Responsibilities School Pick-Up & Transit: Collect children from neighborhood schools at 3:30 PM and walk/navigate home or to local afterschool activities. Homework & Academic Support: Supervise homework time, encouraging good study habits and assisting with assignments (specifically for our 10-year-old). Afternoon Engagement: Play, guide age-appropriate activities, and manage downtime between school and dinner. Evening Routine Support: Assist with simple dinner prep for the kids, general light tidying after activities/meals, and guiding the start of the evening unwind routine. Ideal Qualifications Current enrollment in (or completion of) a graduate or post-graduate program. Prior experience working with school-aged children (babysitting, tutoring, teaching, or camp counseling). Highly punctual, organized, proactive, and a clear communicator. CPR and First Aid certified (or willing to get certified). Local to the Upper East Side or within a short, direct commute. Compensation & Benefits Pay: Competitive hourly rate commensurate with education and experience ($28-$35+/hr). Guaranteed Hours: Consistent 20 hours/week (or negotiated set schedule).
