Position Summary

A confidential metals manufacturing client in Morgantown, PA is seeking experienced Maintenance Mechanic to support maintenance operations. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, calibrating, and repairing furnace controls, power supplies, spare circuit boards, electrical systems, electronic components, and related parts.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on electronic troubleshooting and repair experience, strong knowledge of solid-state circuitry, the ability to read electrical schematics, and strong soldering skills. This position requires a technician who can troubleshoot efficiently, manage changing priorities, and support production equipment reliability in a manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support maintenance operations by maintaining furnace controls, power supplies, spare circuit boards, electrical systems, and related parts.
  • Interpret equipment symptoms during troubleshooting and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Use effective troubleshooting techniques to determine root causes of electrical and control system problems.
  • Test, diagnose, and repair electronic and electrical equipment, circuits, and components.
  • Perform calibrations and adjustments according to approved standard procedures.
  • Complete functional testing of repaired boards, parts, and components.
  • Use and maintain standard electronic test equipment.
  • Maintain and update electrical and electronic schematics, including documenting changes.
  • Support electrical and control system reliability throughout the facility.
  • Handle multiple assignments and changing priorities effectively.
  • Communicate equipment issues, troubleshooting findings, and repair status with maintenance, operations, and leadership teams.
  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, electrical safety practices, and company policies.
  • Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required to support production and project timelines.
  • Perform other maintenance, electrical, electronic, or troubleshooting duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of applicable electronic troubleshooting and repair experience.
  • Good understanding of solid-state circuitry required.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics required.
  • Strong soldering skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and control system issues.
  • Ability to test and repair electronic/electrical equipment, circuits, and components.
  • Ability to perform calibrations and adjustments using approved procedures.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-year degree in Electronics preferred.
  • Experience maintaining furnace controls, power supplies, circuit boards, control systems, or industrial electrical systems.
  • Experience in metals manufacturing, industrial maintenance, heat treat, forging, foundry, or heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Experience repairing spare circuit boards or electronic components.
  • Experience maintaining schematic documentation.
  • Experience supporting production equipment in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.


Test Equipment Experience

Candidates should have experience using or maintaining standard electronic test equipment, including:

  • Digital multimeters.
  • VOMs.
  • Oscilloscopes.
  • Capacitance meters.
  • Inductance meters.
  • Meggers.
  • Amprobes.
  • Vacuum metering equipment.
  • Semiconductor testers.
  • Precision measuring instruments.
  • Micrometers.
  • Calipers.
  • Dial indicators.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, kneel, crouch, and perform maintenance tasks throughout the shift.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to handle tools, test equipment, electrical components, circuit boards, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to work around manufacturing equipment, electrical systems, furnace controls, power supplies, machinery, and production activity.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and follow all safety procedures.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
  • Additional physical requirements may apply based on equipment and department needs.


Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on electronic technician with strong troubleshooting skills, solid-state circuitry knowledge, schematic reading ability, and experience repairing electrical/electronic systems in an industrial environment. This person should be comfortable diagnosing equipment issues, repairing circuit boards and components, performing calibrations, and supporting production equipment uptime.

The strongest candidates will have furnace control experience, circuit board repair experience, strong soldering skills, and experience using electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, meggers, and semiconductor testers.
