Job Description
This role focuses on performing preventative maintenance and repairs within a facility to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment. The technician works under the guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor and handles a wide range of general maintenance tasks, including basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and construction-related work. Ideal candidate has experience in facilities or handyman work - something in similar work of line.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair tasks throughout the hospital facility to ensure all areas remain safe, functional, and in good working order.
- Carry out drywall repairs, including patching, sanding, and preparing surfaces for painting.
- Repair, adjust, and maintain doors and locks to ensure proper operation and security.
- Replace light bulbs and perform basic lighting maintenance as needed across the facility.
- Change air filters in HVAC systems to support proper airflow and indoor air quality.
- Troubleshoot and repair basic plumbing fixtures such as toilets, sinks, and related components.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete a variety of maintenance and repair tasks
- Remain available to occasionally extend work hours when critical maintenance needs arise.
- Prepare to participate in an on-call rotation after conversion to full-time employment, providing support for urgent facility issues.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience performing general maintenance tasks in a facilities or similar environment.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and address basic maintenance issues.
- Hands-on experience using a wide range of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to perform basic plumbing repairs, including work on toilets, sinks, and related fixtures.
- Capability to complete drywall repairs, including patching and surface preparation.
- Experience with door and lock repairs, adjustments, and maintenance.
- Ability to perform basic electrical-related tasks within the scope of general maintenance.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe and functional hospital environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or carpentry is highly valued but not required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical and building systems issues.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation after conversion to full-time employment.

Work Environment
This position operates in a hospital setting, performing general maintenance duties throughout patient care and support areas. The role follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There are no on-call duties while working in the initial assignment period; however, after conversion to full-time employment, the technician will participate in an on-call rotation approximately one week per month. Overtime is not frequent but may be required occasionally when addressing critical maintenance issues that extend beyond normal working hours. The environment involves regular use of hand tools and power tools, working around building systems such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, and moving throughout various parts of the hospital to complete work orders.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
