This role focuses on setting up, optimizing, and troubleshooting injection molding processes to maximize machine uptime, reduce scrap, and ensure consistent product quality on a 3rd shift schedule.
Responsibilities
- Maximize uptime on all machine centers with the objective of reducing and eliminating unplanned downtime.
- Perform end-of-arm tooling changes on robots to support production needs and part changes.
- Set molds, start up, and troubleshoot injection molding processes to achieve stable and efficient operations.
- Document all process parameters accurately on setup documents and ensure alignment with Master Setup Sheets.
- Verify that all process parameters and mold protection settings meet established standards and adjust as necessary.
- Make timely process adjustments to prevent part defects and maintain consistent quality.
- Respond promptly to all quality and operator issues related to parts and processes, providing effective resolutions.
- Maintain and continuously improve manufacturing efficiencies through process optimization.
- Drive reduction of scrap by identifying and eliminating adverse mold conditions using corrective actions and mold maintenance forms.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and organized work area at all times.
- Identify maintenance concerns and issues on equipment and molds, and assist with their resolution.
- Participate in mold change activities to reduce downtime and increase overall uptime and throughput.
- Assist with training Process Technicians and Operators on proper procedures, setups, and troubleshooting techniques when needed.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3–5 years of experience troubleshooting injection molding processes.
- Experience with mold set-ups and injection molding troubleshooting.
- At least 2 years of experience working as a process technician.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for plastic injection molding equipment and processes.
- Ability to perform mold changes and set molds safely and efficiently.
- Hands-on experience with plastic molding and injection molding operations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints related to molds, tooling, and parts.
- Experience with quality control inspection in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices for molding and related equipment.
- Capability to perform maintenance repair tasks related to molding machines and tooling.
- Familiarity with tooling used in injection molding and its proper setup and care.
- Proficiency in machine operating within a plastic injection molding environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Comfort working with robots and performing end-of-arm tooling changes.
- Experience documenting process parameters and maintaining accurate setup records.
- Ability to identify and report maintenance concerns and collaborate on corrective actions.
- Experience using mold maintenance forms and corrective action documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Effective communication skills when working with operators, quality personnel, and other technicians.
- Willingness to assist in training and mentoring other Process Technicians and Operators.
- Adaptability to a high-volume, efficiency-focused manufacturing environment.

Work Environment
The role is based in a non–climate-controlled manufacturing facility focused on plastic injection molding. The position is on 3rd shift, Monday through Friday, with Saturday work currently required to meet production demands. Second and third shifts receive a shift differential, providing additional compensation for working off-hours. The environment involves working around molding machines, robots, tooling, and other production equipment, requiring adherence to safety procedures and appropriate industrial work attire suitable for a busy, high-volume production floor.
