Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is seeking a Lead Exhibitions Assistant to support seasonal exhibitions and special events, with a primary focus on GardenFest, our annual holiday light show.

This hands-on position supports the planning, installation, operation, maintenance, and de-installation of lighting and event displays. The position also leads staff and volunteers during installation and strike and provides technical and logistical support throughout the event.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support lighting design, installation, maintenance, operation, and de-installation for Garden special events.
  • Install, rig, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot lighting, A/V equipment, and electrical components.
  • Lead and coordinate staff and volunteers during light show installation and de-installation.
  • Assist with decorative displays, exhibits, garlands, wreaths, and other event elements.
  • Maintain equipment inventories, records, lighting plans, and documentation.
  • Assist with load-in, load-out, setup, operation, and strike.
  • Train and support junior technicians, staff, and volunteers.
  • Coordinate lighting needs with other Garden departments.
  • Follow safety procedures, Garden policies, and applicable electrical codes.
  • Provide operational and logistical support during GardenFest and other special events.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, associate degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience; technical training preferred.
  • Experience with lighting, event production, exhibitions, theater, A/V, or similar technical work preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical functions, rigging safety, and lighting equipment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to safely work from ladders and at elevated levels.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
