Basic Qualifications
Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Regulatory, industry, or job-specific certifications, licenses, or authorizations required to safely and legally perform assigned job duties are preferred, or the ability to obtain and maintain such certifications within the required timeframe.
Skill(s): Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull materials and products. Basic understanding of warehouse and material handling procedures. Ability to operate pallet jacks and basic forklift equipment. Basic computer and barcode scanning skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a warehouse and/or manufacturing environment. Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying of materials. Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and moving equipment. Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as applicable.
Experience: 0 to 2 years of warehouse, manufacturing, logistics, or material handling experience preferred.
General Responsibilities
The Material Handler I performs routine material handling duties under close supervision to support warehouse and production operations. Responsibilities include moving materials, loading and unloading shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, supplying production lines with required materials, and ensuring compliance with established safety and operational procedures.
Essential Duties
- Move, transport, and stage pallets, materials, and products throughout the facility.
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Pick parts and materials for assembly and production operations.
- Scan barcodes and process inventory transactions using handheld scanners and warehouse systems.
- Deliver materials to designated assembly lines and workstations in a timely manner.
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain organized storage locations and proper material placement.
- Assist with inventory counts, stock replenishment, and inventory control activities.
- Inspect materials and report shortages, damages, or discrepancies to supervision.
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas in accordance with housekeeping standards.
- Operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and other approved material handling equipment in a safe manner.
- Follow all safety rules, policies, procedures, and quality requirements.
Ancillary Duties
- Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by management.
