Ready for a role where you can do more than keep the paperwork moving? We’re seeking an experienced Assistant Property Manager to help run the day-to-day operations of a multifamily community in the Hamburg, NY area.
You’ll work closely with the Property Manager and be a steady point of contact for residents, prospective residents, maintenance staff, and vendors. The work is varied: one moment you may be reviewing resident accounts, and the next you may be helping with a lease renewal, following up on a service request, or showing an apartment. When the Property Manager is unavailable, you’ll help keep property operations on track.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain accurate resident accounts and records; record rents, deposits, application fees, and other payments.
- Support rent collection and delinquency follow-up, including preparing appropriate resident notices.
- Process move-ins, move-outs, lease renewals, and security deposit documentation.
- Respond to inquiries, show apartments, and assist prospective residents through the leasing process.
- Answer resident questions, address concerns professionally, and help build positive resident relationships.
- Receive service requests, coordinate with maintenance, and follow up with residents after work is completed.
- Assist with move-in, move-out, and vacant-unit inspections. While onsite, watch for maintenance and property appearance concerns and report them promptly.
- Keep leases, reports, and other property documents organized; prepare and update required daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
- Support resident retention and marketing efforts, including staying familiar with nearby communities and local market conditions.
- Conduct property business in accordance with company policies, Fair Housing requirements, and other applicable laws.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone with at least two years of experience in assistant property management, multifamily leasing, or a closely related residential property management role. You should be comfortable with resident accounts, collections conversations, leasing, and the administrative details that keep a community running well.
Strong organization, sound judgment, and follow-through matter here. You’ll need to communicate clearly with residents and coworkers, handle sensitive information appropriately, and shift between priorities without losing track of the details. Basic computer skills are required; experience with property management software and online resident systems is helpful.
Schedule, Pay, and Benefits
This is a full-time, onsite position of approximately 40 hours per week. The schedule may occasionally include weekends or holidays based on property needs.
Pay is $23.00–$25.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Eligible full-time employees are offered group health insurance, dental insurance, and paid vacation eligibility. Health and dental insurance eligibility begins on the first day of the month following the date of hire. Vacation eligibility is subject to applicable waiting periods and company policy. Additional details will be discussed during the interview and offer process.
Additional Requirements
The role involves time at a desk and time walking the property, including occasional outdoor work and apartment inspections. Local travel may be needed for property business. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, reliable personal transportation, and current automobile insurance. Employment may be contingent on applicable pre-employment screening requirements.
If you have a solid foundation in multifamily property management and enjoy being involved in every part of a community’s daily operations, we’d like to hear from you. Apply today for confidential consideration.
