Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Technician to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, advanced troubleshooting skills, and the ability to perform repairs efficiently while maintaining high safety and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines and related systems.
  • Perform troubleshooting on fuel, electrical, emission, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Utilize computerized diagnostic equipment and software to identify and resolve issues.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and services.
  • Repair and replace engine components, brakes, suspension parts, driveline components, and electrical systems.
  • Interpret technical manuals, schematics, work orders, and repair procedures.
  • Ensure all repairs are completed accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment while following company and OSHA safety standards.
  • Communicate repair findings and recommendations to customers, management, and team members.
  • Stay current with changing diesel technologies, equipment, and industry best practices.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of diesel engine operation.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of diesel fuel, electrical, emission, and mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency using diagnostic software and electronic testing equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, diagrams, and repair documentation.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and compliance procedures.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move heavy parts and equipment.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined or awkward positions for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity required to operate tools and equipment safely and effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous diesel mechanic or diesel technician experience.
  • Technical school education or vocational training in diesel technology.
  • OEM certifications and/or ASE certifications preferred.
  • CDL license is a plus.
