Job Summary

The Sheet Metal Production Mechanic is responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing production sheet metal products and equipment according to blueprints, drawings, and specifications. This role performs sheet metal layouts, operates fabrication machinery, shapes and forms metal, and inspects completed work for conformance with established requirements. Depending on level, the position may also require experience operating welding and soldering equipment. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, maintain quality standards, and support production requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair production sheet metal products and equipment.
• Fabricate components such as control boxes, drain pipes, ventilators, furnace casings, and related sheet metal products.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Perform sheet metal layouts and prepare materials for fabrication.
• Set up and operate sheet metal fabrication machinery.
• Shape and form metal using anvils, blocks, forms, and other appropriate equipment.
• Operate welding and soldering equipment as required for Level III assignments.
• Inspect assemblies and installations for conformance with specifications.
• Monitor and verify quality in accordance with established statistical process or other quality control procedures.
• Perform fiberglass-related work as required.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Job Requirements

• Demonstrated experience performing sheet metal layouts.
• Experience setting up and operating sheet metal fabrication machinery.
• Experience shaping and forming sheet metal using anvils, blocks, forms, or similar tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Ability to fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products.
• Ability to inspect completed work for quality and conformance with specifications.
• Ability to work assigned first or second shift.
• Ability to work weekend overtime as required.
• Ability to perform physically demanding manufacturing work safely and effectively.

Level II Experience

• Experience performing sheet metal layouts.
• Experience setting up and operating sheet metal fabrication machinery.
• Experience shaping metal over anvils, blocks, or forms.
• Fiberglass experience.
• Ability to perform fabrication and assembly work according to established specifications.

Level III Experience

• All Level II sheet metal fabrication and production capabilities.
• Experience operating welding and soldering equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to perform more advanced sheet metal fabrication and assembly activities.
• Ability to independently complete more complex fabrication tasks according to blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
