Job Description

The Docketing Specialist is responsible for maintaining and managing the firm’s legal calendaring and docketing systems to ensure that all court deadlines, filing requirements, statutes, hearings, and other critical dates are accurately entered, monitored, and communicated. This position plays a vital role in minimizing risk and ensuring attorneys and legal teams remain compliant with procedural and court requirements.


The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced legal environment where accuracy and confidentiality are essential.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review court filings, pleadings, notices, correspondence, and other legal documents to identify critical deadlines and dates.
  • Enter and maintain court deadlines, statutes of limitations, hearing dates, filing deadlines, discovery deadlines, and other important dates in the firm’s docketing/calendar system.
  • Calculate deadlines accurately in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local court rules.
  • Monitor changes to court rules, procedures, and filing requirements that may affect docketing calculations.
  • Conduct quality-control reviews of docket entries to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Generate and distribute deadline reports and calendar reminders to attorneys and appropriate legal staff.
  • Monitor upcoming deadlines and proactively notify attorneys and case teams of approaching critical dates.
  • Review incoming court notices, electronic notifications, and e-filings for new or modified deadlines.
  • Coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and other members of the legal team regarding docketing requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and organized electronic and physical records related to docketing activities.
  • Assist with opening and closing
