Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (40 hours/week)
Location: Worcester, MA 01605
Job Type: Local contract
Contract Length: 6-month contract (Maternity Leave Coverage)
Pay Range: $20 - $22 per hour on W2.
*Pay offered is based on experience, expertise, credentialing, and education.

Summary:
Seeking an experienced Senior Medical Administrative Assistant / Surgical Scheduler to support a busy Thoracic Surgery practice. This role focuses on complex medical and surgical scheduling, referrals, diagnostic testing, physician orders, and coordination across multiple surgeons and clinical staff.

Duties:
  • Schedule new patient and follow-up appointments, surgeries, and procedures.
  • Coordinate CT, MRI, PET, pulmonary function, cardiac, and other diagnostic testing.
  • Process internal and external referrals and accurately enter physician orders into Epic.
  • Coordinate insurance verification, referrals, and prior authorizations.
  • Ensure medical records, imaging, and test results are available before appointments.
  • Manage patient calls while supporting multiple surgeons, APPs, and clinical staff.
  • Coordinate multiple provider schedules and prioritize competing requests.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (vocational medical office training preferred).
  • 2+ years of medical scheduling or healthcare administrative experience.
  • Hospital-based or specialty clinic experience strongly preferred.
  • Surgical/procedure scheduling experience highly preferred.
  • Strong medical and surgical terminology.
  • Proven experience with physician order/referral transcription into an EHR.
  • Experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations.
  • Experience coordinating complex diagnostic testing.
  • Epic experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to support multiple physicians/APPs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and multitasking skills.
