Miami Lakes facility, we serve military, commercial, corporate, and rotorcraft customers worldwide and provide manufacturing services to a number of Fortune 500 companies.
We hold FAA, EASA, and UK CAA Part 145 approvals, AS9100D certification, and NADCAP accreditation. Our work covers rotors, armatures, stators, exciters, fields, coils, solenoids, and related components used in AC and DC aerospace generators and motors.
We're growing—adding manufacturing capacity, expanding our program work, and investing in our engineering organization.
The Role
We're adding a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take technical ownership of complex mechanical engineering work across aerospace repair, overhaul, manufacturing, reverse engineering, and new program development.
This is not a desk-only engineering position. You'll work directly with technicians, machinists, inspectors, quality personnel, and other engineers to solve problems on the production floor and turn engineering concepts into repeatable production processes.
You'll lead difficult technical investigations, develop repair and manufacturing solutions, support new product and program introduction, and help establish engineering standards across the organization.
You'll also serve as a technical resource for other engineers and production personnel and will be expected to make sound engineering decisions.
What You'll Do
- Lead complex mechanical engineering investigations involving component failures, dimensional discrepancies, material conditions, manufacturing problems, and recurring production issues.
- Perform failure analysis, root cause analysis, and corrective-action development for aerospace components and processes.
- Develop, substantiate, and document repair schemes, manufacturing processes, engineering orders, technical instructions, and production methods.
- Lead reverse-engineering projects from initial inspection and dimensional characterization through CAD definition, tooling, prototyping, first article, and production release.
- Develop mechanical designs, fixtures, tooling, gauges, and manufacturing solutions using our in-house engineering, machining, 3D modeling, and 3D-printing capabilities.
- Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, material selection, fits and clearances, and sound mechanical design principles to repair and manufacturing applications.
- Evaluate drawings, CMMs, SRMs, OEM technical data, specifications, and customer requirements and translate them into executable shop-floor processes.
- Provide engineering disposition and technical direction for nonconforming material and components.
- Work directly with production and Quality to resolve technical issues affecting safety, quality, cost, and throughput.
- Support first-article inspections, process qualification, validation testing, and introduction of new repairs and manufactured components.
- Lead engineering initiatives to reduce labor hours, scrap, rework, and process variation while improving reliability and repeatability.
- Evaluate existing manufacturing and repair processes and identify opportunities for improved tooling, automation, inspection, and process control.
- Take ownership of assigned programs and technical problems from initial investigation through production implementation.
What We Need
- BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within aerospace MRO, aerospace manufacturing, an OEM, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Strong hands-on mechanical engineering background involving machined components, assemblies, tooling, manufacturing processes, and/or rotating equipment.
- Demonstrated experience solving complex production and component-level engineering problems.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, dimensional inspection, tolerance analysis, materials, fits, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with CAD and mechanical design. SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD experience preferred.
- Experience developing manufacturing or repair processes and translating engineering requirements into shop-floor instructions.
- Working knowledge of FAA Part 145, AS9100D, CMM/SRM requirements, or comparable aerospace quality and regulatory systems.
- Experience with root cause analysis, corrective action, and technical problem-solving.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, Quality, Operations, and senior leadership.
Nice to Have
- Aerospace repair station or component MRO experience.
- Extensive reverse-engineering experience.
- Experience with rotating equipment such as motors, generators, rotors, shafts, bearings, housings, or related electromechanical assemblies.
- Experience designing tooling, fixtures, gauges, or production equipment.
- CMM programming or advanced dimensional-inspection experience.
- Fusion 360 experience.
- Experience with rotating-component balancing.
- Familiarity with NADCAP special processes including heat treatment, NDT, plating, welding, coatings, and vacuum impregnation.
- Experience with material selection, heat treatment, surface treatments, and aerospace manufacturing specifications.
- Experience developing or substantiating repairs for legacy components where original engineering data may be limited.

A Senior Mechanical Engineer at AEM is expected to own technical problems.
