MECHANICAL ASSEMBLER
Job Description
The company specializes in manufacturing and integrating electrical apparatus, offering tailored solutions to meet customer requirements. A mechanical assembler reads blueprints and uses hand or power tools to build, assemble, and test mechanical components, assemblies, and finished good equipment on the production floor. The primary goal is to ensure parts align correctly, meet quality standards, and function properly.
Core Responsibilities
- Blueprint & Schematics Reading: Interpret technical diagrams, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering drawings to plan the assembly sequence.
- Component Assembly: Position and fasten parts together using hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and/or overhead cranes.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished subassemblies or products to ensure they meet exact design tolerances and specifications.
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean, maintain, and inspect calibrated tools, drill presses, and related machinery to prevent defects and ensure smooth operation.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve mechanical or assembly discrepancies, and report issues to supervisors or leadman.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Mechanical Aptitude: A strong understanding of mechanics, hand tools, and how physical parts fit together.
- Technical Literacy: Ability to measure parts precisely using tape measure.
- Physical Stamina: Capacity to stand for long periods and lift, push, or pull heavy materials.
- Dexterity & Precision: High attention to detail to ensure accurate installation and properly secured fasteners.
Environment:
- Shop: You can expect to work around heavy machinery and moving equipment in an environment that may involve varying temperatures, moderate to high noise levels, and occasional exposure to dust, fumes, or chemicals (all within regulated safety limits)
- Hours: Standard 40-hour work week with overtime as required by business needs.
