Job Description

The Touch-Up and Rework Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of electronic assemblies through precise soldering, component replacement, and detailed inspection. Reporting directly to the Quality Manager and Production Supervisor, this position requires working with both through-hole and surface-mount soldering processes while adhering to IPC standards and company procedures.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform hand soldering and touch-up on PCB/PCBA assemblies
  • Repair solder defects, bridges, and insufficient solder joints
  • Remove and replace electronic components as necessary
  • Inspect assemblies using microscopes and magnification tools
  • Execute rework on both through-hole and surface-mount components
  • Read and interpret work instructions, schematics, and assembly documentation
  • Utilize soldering irons, hot-air tools, and other rework equipment
  • Adhere to IPC-A-610 workmanship standards and company quality procedures
  • Document rework and inspection outcomes accurately
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and ESD-safe work area
  • Collaborate closely with production and quality teams to resolve defects

 

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience in electronic assembly, soldering, and PCB/PCBA rework
  • Strong skills in hand soldering and component replacement
  • Ability to work under magnification and use precision tools
  • Competence in reading assembly drawings and following work instructions
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610 workmanship standards
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify workmanship defects
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • IPC J-STD-001 or IPC-7711/7721 certification
  • Experience with both SMT and through-hole soldering techniques
  • Proficiency in PCB/PCBA repair and rework
  • Experience with microscope-based inspection
  • Familiarity with ESD-controlled manufacturing environments
  • Previous work experience in electronics manufacturing or EMS environment
