Job Description
We are seeking a Bookstore Operations Assistant to support daily bookstore operations at MassBay Community College. The ideal candidate will have experience in customer service, textbook inventory, and order fulfillment and a proven ability to deliver timely assistance to students and faculty while maintaining accurate textbook processing and records.
Responsibilities:
- Support daily operations of the bookstore and maintain store order and organization.
- Provide front-line customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Receive, unpack, and stock textbooks. Receive shipments in the system and verify accuracy.
- Assist students with ordering textbooks, accessing digital bookshelves, and redeeming access codes.
- Coordinate textbook distribution, returns, and exchanges according to policy and timelines.
- Support faculty with textbook adoption processes, deadlines, and platform navigation to ensure accurate semester listings.
- Liaise with the online book distributor and publishers to troubleshoot orders and access codes.
- Address, resolve, or escalate student, faculty, and staff concerns in a timely manner.
- Perform basic administrative tasks and maintain records as assigned.
- Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced higher education environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.
- Ability to lift and move boxes up to 30–40 pounds.
- Ability to work flexible hours during semester start-up and peak periods.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in retail, bookstore, or higher education service environments.
- Familiarity with textbook adoption platforms and online order management systems.
