Project Manager II — Research Strategy, Innovation & Portfolio Management

Contract Length: 14 months
Pay Rate: $59.00 – $63.89/hr
About the Role
ATR International is seeking a talented and highly motivated Project Manager II on behalf of our client, Gilead Sciences, to join the Research Strategy, Innovation & Portfolio Management group. This role will manage coordination and progression of scientific research projects in a highly collaborative environment and cross-functional matrix, efficiently interacting with multiple stakeholders across functions to drive research projects forward to clinical development.
This is a 14-month contract engagement covering a Leave of Absence (LOA). Regular business hours are 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Candidates must be able to work on site at the Foster City office at least 3 days per week.
Essential Responsibilities
- Responsible for starting up or managing research-based development subteams
- May help manage teams preparing to present their molecule at governance meetings for clinical development
- Experience working effectively with cross-functional project teams to build and develop the team, diagnose team health, and take action to address team issues
- Ability to organize new cross-functional project teams, define objectives and scope, identify tasks and milestones, build project schedules, identify resource needs, track execution to schedule, and manage risks
- Experience and ability in successfully managing multiple cross-functional tasks simultaneously
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of experience, or MS degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, including experience in the pharmaceutical industry as a functional area scientist or project manager
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
- Direct experience or strong foundation in the drug development process preferred
- Experience should include participation in cross-functional project team activities
- Self-motivated, resourceful, high technical competence, and process-oriented
- Clear and effective communication
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams) and Zoom
- Must be on site at the Foster City office at least 3 days per week
