Job Description
Job Title: Mechanical Assembler
Pay Rate: $21.15 – $26.44 per hour
Important Note: This is not a beginner-friendly or "learn on the job" position. We are seeking experienced professionals who possess advanced technical assembly skills and are ready to hit the ground running.
Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Mechanical Assembler to perform complex operations assembling mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and sheet metal enclosures. In this senior-level role, tasks require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; you must utilize problem-solving, planning, and prioritization to complete tasks effectively. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience and a deep understanding of IPC-610 standards for soldering and wire harnessing.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Advanced Assembly: Assemble drawers, chassis, enclosures, and racks working directly from established assembly prints, wiring diagrams, and complex schematics.
- Precision Soldering & Cabling: Determine and follow strict methods for hand soldering, wire-wrapping, wire harnessing, and cabling on assembly units, strictly adhering to IPC-610 and ESD standards.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Set up test devices using hand tools or automatic test methods. Perform routine go/no-go tests of circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies, repairing malfunctions as necessary.
- Documentation: Maintain precise logs and records denoting malfunctions, test results, and repair work.
- Process Management: Independently plan and prioritize multi-step tasks. Make decisions regarding your direct work area to resolve technical problems.
- Communication: Utilize strong verbal and written communication skills to convey information across your work group, employing basic negotiation, influence, and tact.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 1+ year of Production and Vocational Assembly experience (2+ years highly preferred).
- Technical Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience in hand soldering, wire-wrapping, and cable harnessing. Strong component polarity knowledge.
- Standards: Strict familiarity and compliance with IPC-610 and ESD standards.
- Skills: Proficiency with hand tools, testing equipment, and basic arithmetic. Ability to read and interpret established schematics and drawings.
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
Physical Requirements
- Frequently transports and installs equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to perform required tasks while standing for up to 2 hours at a time.
