Public Safety Associate - Now Hiring

The Public Safety Associate helps maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for visitors, volunteers, and staff throughout the Garden’s 82-acre campus. This position conducts patrols, responds to safety concerns, monitors access, and supports emergency response.

Responsibilities

• Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of the Garden campus and perimeter.
• Maintain a visible safety presence and respond to alarms, service calls, and incidents.
• Monitor visitor access and secure buildings and grounds.
• Document observations, suspicious activity, and incidents.
• Assist police, fire, EMS, and other first responders during emergencies.
• Manage traffic, parking, and service road access.
• Maintain communication with appropriate personnel and request assistance when needed.
• Complete required safety and security training.
• Cross-train with other departments and assist with Garden operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Strong public safety or security background required.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Strong observation, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional during emergencies.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move throughout the 82-acre Garden.
• Ability to work independently on patrols and during events.
• Must work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Must be comfortable working around the public.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
