Job Description:

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Health Services Administrator (HSA) and/or Radiology Supervisor, the Limited X-ray Technician performs limited scope diagnostic radiologic procedures within the scope of their permit and certification, supporting patient care at CHP's San Diego Central Jail location on the overnight (NOC) shift.

Accountable to: Health Services Administrator (HSA) / Radiology Supervisor

Position Requirements:

Must hold and maintain a current Limited Permit X-ray Technician (LXT) certification issued by the California Department of Public Health, Radiologic Health Branch, valid for the limited scope areas required for this role, as well as any required CPR certification. Minimum of 1 year clinical experience preferred; correctional healthcare experience preferred but not required.

Physical Demands:

Must have the physical and mental capacity to work in an environment that may be less than pristine, and manage and maintain physical and mental health when encountering stressful situations. Must be able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force, push, pull, and move objects, including positioning patients for imaging.

Location: San Diego Central Jail — 1173 Front St, San Diego, CA 92101

Schedule: Fri–Mon, 7:00 PM–4:00 AM (NOC)

Classification: Limited Scope — Limited Permit X-ray Technician

Status: PRN

Compensation: $35–$42/hour, PRN, plus shift differential: +$4.00/hour weekend nights and +$3.00/hour weekday nights
