Certified Nursing Assistant - Bath Aid

Bathing & Personal Care

• Provide scheduled baths and showers according to resident care plans and facility schedules. 
• Assist residents with bathing, shampooing, drying, dressing, grooming, and other personal hygiene needs while maintaining privacy, dignity, and comfort. 
• Provide care according to each resident’s level of independence and individual needs. 
• Ensure residents are appropriately covered and protected from unnecessary exposure. 

Safety

• Follow proper procedures for safely transferring and positioning residents in bathing areas. 
• Properly use lifts, shower chairs, wheelchairs, and other bathing equipment according to training and facility guidelines. 
• Check water temperature before bathing residents and maintain a safe bathing environment. 
• Follow all fall-prevention, infection-control, and facility safety procedures. 

Resident Observation & Reporting

• Observe residents during bathing and personal care for changes in condition, including bruising, redness, rashes, wounds, skin breakdown, swelling, pain, changes in mobility, behavior, or overall condition. 
• Promptly report any changes, injuries, falls, concerns, or other abnormalities to the appropriate nursing staff. 

Documentation

• Accurately document completed baths, showers, and other required care according to facility procedures. 
• Document resident refusals, missed baths, concerns, and changes in condition as required. 
• Communicate pertinent resident information to the nurse or supervisor. 

Cleaning & Supplies

• Clean and sanitize bathing equipment and the bathing area after each use in accordance with infection-control procedures. 

Maintain adequate bathing supplies and notify the supervisor when supplies need to be replenished.
