Position Overview

We're looking for a Pest Control Technician II to help protect our nursery crops from weeds, insects, diseases, and other threats. This is a hands-on role for someone with agricultural or pesticide application experience who takes safety seriously, pays close attention to detail, and is comfortable operating and calibrating agricultural equipment.

You'll work as part of our Pest Control team to safely mix and apply pesticides across the nursery, scout for pest pressures, maintain application equipment and supplies, and help support other technicians. Your work will directly support our goal of producing high-quality fruit and nut trees for orchardists throughout the country.

What you'll do

  • Safely mix and apply liquid and granular pesticides throughout the nursery
  • Operate and calibrate chemical application equipment including tractor sprayers, hydraulic sprayers, Dosatrons, foggers, backpack sprayers, and broadcasters
  • Follow pesticide labels, safety procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations
  • Scout for insects, diseases, and other pest pressures
  • Accurately measure and mix chemicals in the proper order and at the required rates
  • Assist in training lower-level technicians on safe chemical handling and application
  • Coordinate with Production, Irrigation, and other departments to support plant health needs and application scheduling
  • Maintain an organized inventory of chemicals, spray equipment, nozzles, filters, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Communicate material needs and receive and stock materials
  • Document chemical applications and maintain accurate records
  • Inspect, clean, and perform routine and preventative maintenance on application equipment
  • Identify and report equipment defects, errors, or malfunctions
  • Load, unload, and transport palletized materials
  • Communicate with coworkers and nearby employees before applications to help maintain a safe work area
  • Keep work areas clean and return equipment to designated storage areas

What you bring

  • Intermediate agricultural, nursery, and/or pesticide application knowledge and experience
  • Experience safely operating and calibrating small and heavy agricultural equipment
  • Ability to follow written instructions, pesticide labels, and standard operating procedures
  • Strong attention to detail when measuring, mixing, applying, and documenting chemicals
  • Ability to organize work and complete assignments under general supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well with team members and other departments
  • Ability to help train and support lower-level technicians
  • Willingness to learn additional nursery equipment and application methods
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends when needed
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to perform duties while wearing required personal protective equipment, which may include protective coveralls, respirators, chemical-resistant gloves, and rubber boots

No formal education is required. We're looking for candidates with intermediate agricultural and/or pesticide application knowledge, training, and experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and skills.

If you're dependable, safety-minded, experienced with pesticide applications, and ready to take on additional responsibility in agricultural pest management, we'd like to hear from you.
