Seasonal Grain Operations Laborer
Rochelle, IL | $18.00/hr + $27.00/hr Overtime | Temp to Hire
Position Overview
We are seeking dependable, hardworking individuals to join our grain operations team. This is a physically demanding position supporting grain handling, equipment operation, facility cleaning, maintenance, and general labor throughout the harvest season.
Training is provided. Previous agricultural, grain handling, warehouse, manufacturing, or general labor experience is preferred but not required.
Schedule
Summer schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
Peak harvest season (September–November): 6–7 days per week, 12-hour shifts, typically 6:45 AM–7:00 PM or 6:45 PM–7:00 AM
During peak harvest, employees may work 80+ hours per week, including mandatory overtime, weekends, evenings, and holidays, depending on weather and workload.
Responsibilities
- Assist with loading, unloading, transferring, and storing grain
- Operate grain handling equipment, including augers, conveyors, grain dryers, and related equipment
- Monitor grain levels and quality and report irregularities
- Clean and maintain grain bins, flat storage, ground piles, dump pits, tunnels, head houses, and facility grounds
- Perform general farm and facility maintenance
- Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures
- Perform additional general labor duties as assigned
Physical and Work Requirements
- Must be able to lift 40–50 lbs.
- Must be comfortable performing physical labor, including bending, stooping, shoveling, and using hand tools
- Must be willing to work in heat, cold, rain, dust, and other outdoor conditions
- Must be comfortable working around grain, including cleaning grain bins
- Must be willing and able to work at heights and in confined spaces
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential
- Must have a valid driver's license/ID and reliable personal transportation
- Must be willing to travel between multiple company grain sites
- Must follow all required safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous farm, agricultural, grain, warehouse, manufacturing, or general labor experience is a plus
- Valid DL and reliable form of transportation
- Basic mechanical aptitude is helpful
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and willing to work as part of a team
Pay and Opportunity
$18.00/hour base pay
$27.00/hour overtime rate
