Laboratory Technician - Industrial / Chemical Testing

Shift Time: (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM) Mon-Fri

Pay Rate:  $20.00 – $30.00 /hour on W2

Safety and communication are the highest priorities in this job.   Sets up, operates and maintains laboratory instruments, monitors experiments, makes observations, calculates and records results, and often develops conclusions. Individual is familiar with basic scientific principles and has had some laboratory experience. Can follow written direction and maintain a laboratory notebook. Has good communication skills and is computer literate. A degree and OSHA knowledge may be required.

As a temporary lab technician, you will be a part of a team that maintains a specialty chemical sales account across a large papermill. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

·         Contributing to a safe and secure environment, following established standards and procedures; complying with all regulations

·         Collecting water and process samples from an industrial environment

·         Testing in a laboratory and industrial environments

·         Reporting results

·         Review daily and weekly tasks with the sales team

·         Must maintain lab and instrumentation in a clean and organized fashion which includes removal of trash, consolidating and organizing supplies, wiping down counters, equipment

Qualifications

·         High school degree, Associates degree preferred

·         One year lab experience

·         Must have basic lab experience including dilutions, weighing chemicals, and understand proper chemical handling

·         Must have pipette experience

·         Must be able to work independently and manage time effectively

·         Must be detail oriented

·         Must be comfortable with computer software

·         Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time

·         Demonstrated interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail

·         Must be an effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills

·         Must have a demonstrated ability to interact respectfully and comfortably with all individuals, including customers

·         Ability to work in an industrial environment: exposure to heat/cold, industrial noise, etc.

·         Must live within 45 minutes of West Point VA
