About the Role:
Calrod Engineering in Costa Mesa, CA is looking for a skilled CNC Lathe/Mill Set Up Operator to join their precision machining team. If you have a passion for craftsmanship, tight tolerances, and keeping production running smoothly, this is the opportunity for you. Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC lathe and milling machines for production and prototype runs
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications
- Select and install tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices
- Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs to ensure accurate and efficient machining
- Perform in-process inspection using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
- Must be able to check your own parts
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in CNC lathe and/or mill set up and operation
- Proficiency with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Mazak, or Haas
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience with precision measurement tools and quality inspection processes
- Solid understanding of speeds, feeds, tooling, and machining best practices
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality parts
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced shop environment
- Spanish speaking is a PLUS
