Pay Range: $28.00 – $35.00 per hour
Position Summary
We are seeking a CNC Machinist for a full-time opportunity with an established aerospace manufacturer in the Torrance, CA area. This role is responsible for setting up and operating CNC equipment used to machine precision metal components in accordance with manufacturing procedures, blueprints, drawings, and applicable quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on CNC machining experience, strong blueprint reading skills, knowledge of feeds and speeds, and the ability to use precision measuring tools to verify parts meet required specifications.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Set up and operate CNC machines including lathes, mills, lasers, and waterjets.
- Review blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to determine setup procedures, machining sequences, and part dimensions.
- Load CNC programs and prepare machines for production runs.
- Select fixtures, part holders, tooling, and workholding methods required to machine parts to specification.
- Adjust tool offsets, indicate fixtures or parts, change tools, and follow part programs during machining operations.
- Monitor machine operation to ensure proper performance, part quality, and production efficiency.
- Monitor tools and attachments to ensure parts are properly cooled and lubricated during machining.
- Apply knowledge of feeds, speeds, tooling, and surface finish requirements.
- Inspect machined parts using precision measuring tools to verify conformance to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and geometric tolerances.
- Maintain quality, accuracy, and consistency throughout the machining process.
- Follow all company safety procedures, quality standards, and manufacturing work instructions.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes, mills, or related CNC equipment.
- Familiarity with CNC machine controls and common machine functions.
- Ability to load programs, select tooling, and prepare jobs for production.
- Ability to adjust tool offsets, change tools, and follow machining programs.
- Knowledge of feeds, speeds, tooling, and surface finishes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and geometric tolerances.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry, and basic algebra.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, dial bores, thread gauges, and other basic inspection tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
- Regular and predictable attendance required.
- Must comply with applicable DOT drug and alcohol program requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior CNC machining experience in aerospace, precision manufacturing, or a regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with CNC mills, CNC lathes, lasers, or waterjet equipment preferred.
- Experience machining metal components to blueprint specifications preferred.
- Familiarity with GD&T preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
The pay range for this role is:
$28.00 to $35.00 per hour
This is a full-time, non-exempt position and is eligible for overtime.
