We are seeking a skilled, dedicated, and collaborative Orthopedic Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our growing orthopedic team. In this dynamic role, you will work closely with our board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon and our other providers to deliver exceptional patient care across the full continuum of treatment—from initial clinic evaluations and conservative management to first-assisting in the Operating Room and directing post-operative recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
Operating Room (OR)
- First-assist in orthopedic surgical procedures (including total joint arthroplasty, sports medicine, trauma, and arthroscopy).
- Perform surgical closures, deep and superficial tissue suturing, dressing applications, and post-op splinting/immobilization.
- Participate in pre-operative patient preparation, surgical positioning, and post-op handoff reporting.
Clinic & Outpatient Care
- Conduct comprehensive orthopedic evaluations, physical exams, and health histories for new and returning patients.
- Diagnose conditions, order and interpret diagnostic imaging (X-rays, MRIs, CT scans), and formulate evidence-based treatment plans.
- Perform office-based procedures, including therapeutic/diagnostic joint injections, aspirations, closed fracture reductions, and casting/splinting.
- Manage pre-operative workups, patient clearances, and comprehensive post-operative follow-up visits.
Patient Care & Administration
- Provide empathetic patient education regarding surgical procedures, non-operative management options, and rehabilitation protocols.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Coordinate care with physical therapists, primary care providers, and hospital staff.
- Participate in shared call rotation and rounding on in-patient post-operative patients
- Collegiate and high school athletic game coverage
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program (Master's degree preferred).
- Licensure: Active (or eligible for) PA license in New York and current NCCPA certification.
- Certifications: Current BLS and ACLS certifications; active DEA registration (or eligible).
- Experience:
- Prior clinical/OR experience in Orthopedics or Surgical Specialties preferred. (New graduates with strong orthopedic clinical rotations are encouraged to apply!)
- Skills: Proficient in surgical first-assisting, joint injections, fracture care, and advanced EHR workflows.
