Kapsons is partnering with a Fortune 1000 industry leader and one of the largest providers of commercial landscaping services in the United States to hire an experienced Account Manager – Commercial Landscaping.

This is a highly visible, field-based role responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial landscape maintenance clients. The Account Manager serves as the primary client relationship owner, with responsibility for customer satisfaction, retention, enhancement sales, service quality, and the overall financial performance of assigned accounts.

This position is ideal for someone who combines strong client relationship skills with hands-on landscape operations experience and enjoys being in the field working directly with customers and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for an assigned portfolio of commercial landscape maintenance clients.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key client contacts and decision-makers.
  • Conduct regular site walkthroughs with clients to evaluate service quality, identify concerns, and ensure expectations are being met.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to sell enhancement and ancillary landscape services within existing accounts.
  • Develop accurate estimates and takeoffs for enhancement projects and other client needs.
  • Prepare and deliver timely proposals and designs for enhancement projects.
  • Proactively identify landscape improvement and enhancement opportunities during site visits.
  • Generate referrals and new business opportunities from existing client relationships and communicate qualified leads to the Business Development team.
  • Lead and facilitate the resolution of client concerns, service issues, and escalations.
  • Manage the account renewal process and support strong client retention across the assigned portfolio.
  • Partner closely with the Operations Manager to ensure service delivery consistently meets or exceeds client expectations.
  • Conduct regular site and quality reviews with operations leadership.
  • Support the hiring, training, coaching, and development of field crews supporting assigned accounts.
  • Promote and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate client information, account activity, and documentation within the CRM system.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and help maintain satisfactory payment levels across assigned customers.
  • Partner with branch administration to ensure client records and contact information remain accurate and current.
  • Support the Branch Manager with overall branch leadership and participate in relevant operational and business meetings.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required to support the branch and its customers.

Financial & Business Responsibility

The Account Manager plays an important role in both customer retention and profitable account growth.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining acceptable gross margins across base maintenance contracts.
  • Growing revenue through enhancement and ancillary service opportunities.
  • Supporting timely contract renewals.
  • Monitoring the financial health of assigned accounts.
  • Balancing customer expectations with operational and financial objectives.
  • Identifying opportunities to expand relationships and increase account value.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a business-related discipline, or equivalent professional experience in a customer-focused service environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in account management, customer service, operations, or leadership, preferably within commercial landscaping.
  • Commercial landscape maintenance experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple commercial customer relationships or a portfolio of accounts is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of customer service, retention, and relationship management.
  • Experience identifying and selling landscape enhancements or ancillary services is a plus.
  • Ability to develop estimates, takeoffs, proposals, and recommendations based on client and property needs.
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with field crews, operations management, branch leadership, and customers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve customer concerns effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and customer relationships in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative, accountable, customer-focused, and results-oriented.

Physical Demands & Requirements

  • Regular operation of computers and other office and operational equipment, including laptops, mobile phones, and sales/operational software and tools.
  • The position involves a combination of mobile and sedentary work and requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • The role regularly requires spending more than half of the working time away from company locations, including walking properties and jobsites, meeting customers, supporting operations, and identifying additional service opportunities.
  • Ability to travel by car, train, and plane as required.
  • Ability to traverse uneven terrain and walk jobsites with customers and branch teams for periods of up to four hours.
  • Ability to maintain possession of any required personal medications needed to address known allergic reactions should they occur.

Work Environment

  • This is a field-based position combining office responsibilities, customer interaction, and regular jobsite visits.
  • Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • The Account Manager regularly participates in branch and field activities, including team safety and stretch-and-flex meetings approximately 3–4 days per week.
  • Significant time will be spent visiting customer properties, conducting site walkthroughs, interacting with field teams, and meeting directly with clients.
  • Travel within the assigned territory is required, with additional travel based on business needs.

Why Consider This Opportunity?
