Job Summary:
- We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II to join our patient services team in Hazleton, PA. The Phlebotomist II provides high-quality patient care while performing venipuncture, specimen collection, processing, and documentation in accordance with established procedures and safety standards.
- This role involves direct patient interaction and requires excellent communication, strong phlebotomy skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The successful candidate may work in a Patient Service Center, physician office, or other locations based on business needs.
- Perform venipuncture and blood specimen collection accurately, safely, and efficiently.
- Perform Pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Process, label, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing according to established procedures.
- Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing.
- Verify patient identification, demographic information, and specimen labeling.
- Obtain patient initials/signatures following venipuncture when required.
- Maintain accurate patient records, documentation, and other required information.
- Explain collection procedures clearly and professionally to patients.
- Create an atmosphere of trust, confidence, and patient comfort.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and protect sensitive information.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
- Provide excellent customer service and promote a positive image of the organization.
- Work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
- Manage multiple priorities effectively in a high-volume setting.
- Travel between Patient Service Centers and physician offices as business needs require.
- Support coverage at multiple locations, including with minimal notice when necessary.
- Follow all company Policies & Procedures, Employee Health & Safety requirements, dress code standards, and operational guidelines.
- Strong phlebotomy skills with demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture.
- Experience collecting specimens from Pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and changing business needs.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Flexible availability based on staffing requirements, including rotational Saturdays, holidays, overtime, and on-call coverage when applicable.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record if required for assigned duties.
- Willingness to travel between multiple work locations.
- Basic keyboard and data-entry skills.
- Commitment to confidentiality, safety, quality, and professional standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; certification requirements may vary by state.
- Three years of phlebotomy experience required, including Pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Minimum two years of Patient Service Center experience preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail, healthcare, or service environment preferred.
- Experience with computer systems, keyboarding, and data entry preferred.
