Job Description
Industrial Automation Controls Engineer — Morristown, TN

Picture your day shaping reliable, efficient operations across our facilities in Morristown, TN. As an Industrial Automation Controls Engineer, you’ll architect and sustain the control systems that keep production moving safely and smoothly.

A day in the role

Morning: Translate process requirements into robust control strategies. Draft control narratives, build PLC routines, and craft HMI screens. Configure SCADA points, alarms, and trends to give operators real-time visibility.

Midday: Bench-test logic and I/O, simulate sequences, tune loops, and validate interlocks. Hunt down anomalies and resolve them before they reach the plant floor.

Afternoon: Partner with operations, maintenance, and other disciplines to troubleshoot live issues. Provide hands-on support and training to operators and maintenance technicians so they can run and service equipment confidently.

Wrap-up: Capture changes with clear documentation—designs, revisions, and maintenance records—so the next improvement starts from a solid baseline. Keep an eye on new control technologies and practices to elevate system performance.

What you will do
  • Design and deploy control systems for diverse processes and equipment.
  • Develop and sustain software for PLC platforms, SCADA environments, and HMI interfaces.
  • Test, validate, and troubleshoot controls to ensure peak performance and reliability.
  • Work cross-functionally to surface and resolve technical issues quickly.
  • Deliver technical support and training for operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Document architectures, code changes, and maintenance activities thoroughly.
  • Track and apply advances in automation and control technologies.
What you bring

  • Working knowledge of SCADA systems and HMI design/development.
  • Exceptional diagnostic skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Comfort operating independently and collaborating within a team.
  • Clear, effective communication—written and verbal.

If automation energizes you and problem-solving is your trademark, we’d love to connect.
