Job Description
What a day looks like

You arrive at the frac sand processing facility, check the maintenance dashboard, and prioritize work orders aimed at keeping production moving. Your morning might start with a conveyor inspection, a quick alignment on a bucket elevator, and lubrication of bearings and gearboxes. Midday, you’re diagnosing a VFD alarm on a pump motor, collaborating with operators to understand recurring faults, and documenting your corrective actions. By afternoon, you’re fabricating a small guard repair with stick welding and a cutting torch, then commissioning a replaced screen drive before shift handoff.

Your impact
  • Keep critical assets—conveyors, screens, pumps, dryers, bucket elevators, compressors, and hydraulic systems—running safely and efficiently.
  • Reduce downtime by rapidly troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues.
  • Elevate reliability by executing preventive maintenance, inspections, alignments, and lubrication plans.
  • Support upgrades, installs, and continuous improvement projects that boost throughput and equipment life.
  • Contribute to a clean, organized, and safe work environment aligned with LOTO and MSHA practices.
Core responsibilities
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance; replace worn or misaligned parts and verify rotating equipment health.
  • Diagnose faults on motors, sensors, VFDs, and pneumatic/hydraulic components; complete corrective repairs.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns and collaborate with operators and supervisors to solve repeat issues.
  • Follow plant safety policies, lockout/tagout, and MSHA regulations; participate in safety meetings and inspections.
  • Complete work orders, maintenance logs, and parts usage; help manage spares and supplies.
  • Assist with installation, alignment, and commissioning of new equipment; coordinate with contractors and vendors.
  • Provide feedback on equipment performance and recommend improvements.
QualificationsRequired
  • Experience in industrial, mining, or manufacturing maintenance.
  • Hands-on mechanical skill with conveyors, motors, pumps, and other rotating equipment.
  • Basic electrical knowledge (motors, sensors, VFDs, troubleshooting).
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and equipment manuals.
  • Comfort working outdoors in dusty, physically demanding conditions.
Preferred
  • Background in frac sand, aggregates, mining, or similar process plants.
  • Welding and fabrication skills (stick, cutting torch).
  • Familiarity with PLCs and automated systems.
  • MSHA certification or willingness to obtain.
Work environment
  • 12-hour shifts with rotating schedules; nights/weekends as needed.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, heat, and heavy machinery.
  • Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, bending, and working at heights.
What helps you thrive here
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and a safety-first mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team; clear, effective communication.
