MRI / X-Ray Technologist

Setting: Outpatient Orthopedics, Sports Medicine & Surgical Center

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent


Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced, technically strong MRI/X-ray Technologist who thrives in a fast-paced clinical setting and is passionate about delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging in the Phoenix area. This position supports orthopedic, sports medicine, and surgical-center workflows, operating a 1.5T MRI scanner and digital X-ray systems. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, compliance-minded, and eager to contribute to an innovative, team-driven practice.


Key Responsibilities

  • MRI Imaging: Perform high-quality MRI procedures using a 1.5T magnet; execute safety screenings, proper patient positioning, and imaging protocols.
  • X-Ray Imaging: Operate digital radiography equipment while maintaining proper technique, radiation safety protocols, and optimal image quality.
  • Patient Workflow Management: Oversee patient intake, MRI safety screenings, informed consents, patient positioning, and post-exam care instructions.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Complete accurate EMR documentation, imaging logs, and safety forms; adhere strictly to HIPAA, OSHA, ACR, and Arizona state regulatory standards.
  • Authorization Support: Assist with prior authorization workflows and payer-required clinical documentation as needed.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with orthopedic providers, medical assistants, and support staff to maintain efficient imaging throughput and patient care.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform daily QC checks, maintain equipment readiness, and report technical issues promptly.
  • Innovation & Efficiency: Proactively contribute to workflow improvements and imaging protocol optimization.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Certifications & Licensure:
  • ARRT certification in Radiography—ARRT(R) required; ARRT MRI certification—ARRT(MR) preferred.
  • Active Arizona RT(R) and/or RT(MR) license in good standing.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of MRI and/or X-ray experience (dedicated orthopedic imaging experience preferred).
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of MRI safety, radiation safety (ALARA), and clinical patient-care standards.
  • Proficiency with EMR, PACS, and digital imaging documentation workflows.
  • Core Competencies: Ability to work efficiently, independently, and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume orthopedic environment.
