Cleaner

Set Schedule for Academic Year:   Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays: 5:00am to 10:00am (20 hours per week)

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the care and cleaning of all FSA facilities.  Performs all cleaning tasks that are necessary to maintain sanitation and cleanliness up to NYS standards.  Miscellaneous errands, moving, and delivery tasks are also performed.  Work is performed in accordance with well-established rules and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs all cleaning tasks that are necessary to maintain the sanitary operation of FSA   This includes but is not limited to:  sweeping, dusting, mopping and waxing floors, corridors and stairs, cleaning bathrooms, washing walls, windows, partitions and ceilings.
• Cleans kitchens, dishrooms and customer serving areas.
• Empties trash receptacles.
• Moves furniture and vacuums floors.
• May operate floor stripping/finishing machine; may operate buffers or other mechanical cleaning devices.
• May wash dishes, pots and pans by hand and/or machine.
• May operate laundry machines.
• May wash, fold and inventory table and bed linens and uniforms.
• May operate motor vehicle to transport cleaning equipment or other items.
• Follow customer service guidelines to ensure customer satisfaction, demonstrated by a positive attitude and smile.
• Maintains professional appearance according to uniform procedures and standards.
• Demonstrates complete understanding of department policies and procedures and supports the department’s strategic plan.
• Exhibits outstanding attendance and punctuality and takes corrective action to prevent any recurring absences.
• Develops a positive working relationship with department and organization staff while avoiding conflict.
• Displays a positive and enthusiastic approach to all assignments by following the employee code of conduct.
• Performs any related job duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS:

• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Must be able to lift/handle in excess of 60 lbs.
• Is able to work with a minimum amount of supervision.
• Certain assignments in this title require the operation of a motor vehicle; A valid NYS driver’s license and/or CDL NYS driver’s license will be required.
