Position Summary: The Dietary Manager is responsible for oversight of the daily operation of the Dietary Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, or Owner to assure quality nutritional services are provided on a daily basis and that the Dietary Department is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner. The Dietary Manager must have a knowledge base and is able to perform all positions in the department.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing the Dietary Department, its programs and activities.
2. Coordinate dietary services and activities with other departments.
3. Assist in developing and maintaining written dietary policies and procedures.
4. Interpret the department's policies and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, government agencies, etc, as necessary.
5. Assist the Dietary staff in the use of department policies, procedures, equipment, supplies, etc.
6. Perform administrative duties such as completing necessary forms, reports and staff evaluations.
7. Inspects environment, identifies environmental problems and initiate requests for correction of environmental problems.
8. Assures work schedules are developed for dietary personnel to provide adequate coverage that meets the needs of the department.
9. Assures position job details exist that include all personnel.
10. Develop and maintain a file of tested standard recipes.
11. If not able to cover shifts (cooks and/or dietary aides) director must assume responsibility of the shift.
Education/Experience:
Must possess a minimum a high school diploma and maintain a current Serve Safe Certificate.
Must be able to read, write and speak the English language
Must have as a minimum two years in a supervisory capacity in a medical field and/or related management experience.
