Job Description
The overall purpose of the Treatment Nurse - RN/LPNLVN position is to maintain accurate skin integrity,
documentation and administer treatments prescribed by the attending physician, consistent with accepted
standards of care and within the scope of RN/LPN/LVN training and licensure. Incumbent also provides direct
resident care, and assigns duties to subordinate RNs/LPs/LVNs and/or nursing aides as appropriate.
• Observes, assesses and reports resident condition/changes, and documentation.
• Assists in collection of data relevant to resident assessment and evaluation.
• Completes Braden scale on each resident upon admission, updates quarterly, and upon
significant condition change.
• Monitors the skin observations i.e., admission, readmission, weekly skin evaluations scheduled
and completed weekly and as needed.
• Receives, transcribes, and executes physicians orders.
• Assures implementation of care plans as directed, pertaining to skin integrity.
• Administers treatments as prescribed adhering to Infection Control principles.
• Monitors functions and activities ofsubordinate staff.
• Assists with Infection Control Surveillance Completes weekly skin report and turn in to
Administrator, D.O.N. and Dietary Manager.
• Completes timely skin integrity documentation as per facility policy.
• Investigates/documents accidents and incidents.
• Identifies/secures equipment and supplies.
• Contributes to assurance of resident care consistent with accepted standards of care and
established policy and procedure.
• Evaluates staff performance and may initiate appropriate action.
• Attends in-service training programs.
• Functions within the constraints of established policy and procedure consistent with accepted
nursing standards.
• Is assigned responsibility/authority for decisions relating to nursing services, assigned
supervisory duties and related tasks; but may consult with nurse supervisor, director of
nursing, administrator, nurse consultants, or other nursing professionals, or other resources.
• Communicates in a professional and courteous manner using effective verbal and non-verbal
communication skills with residents, their families, and co-workers.
• Maintains confidentiality of department, resident, employee information, communication, and
documentation as well as compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability
Act (HIPAA) regulations.
• Clocks in and out for all working/training hours. Working off the clock will not be permitted at
any time or for any reason.
• Maintain compliance with Facility’s Compliance program and plan.
• Adhere to the Facility Code of Conduct
• These duties are not all-inclusive but provide minimum performance expectations and will be
reviewed in the performance process.

• Graduation from an accredited nursing school and a current, valid license or registration in the state
where employed are required.
• Specialized training in wound care preferred.
• Nursing experience in a long-term care facility is preferred.
• Supervisory experience is desirable.
• Effective communication and interpersonalskills are necessary.
• Functional literacy in English is required.
• May require frequent extended work days of up to 12 hours.
• May require sitting 1 hour per 8 hour shift.
• May require standing 3-4 hours in an 8 hour shift.
• May require walking 4-5 hours in an 8 hour shift.
• May be required to lift 50 pounds or more.
• May occasionally alternate to sitting and frequently alternate to standing or walking.

• Ability to remain calm understress.
