About the Role:
Gallant Business Solutions is hiring 1:1 Youth Support Specialists to provide direct support on a PRN basis to youth in out-of-home placements through the Maryland Department of Human Services (DHS). This role is perfect for individuals with experience in youth services, behavioral health, human services, residential programs, or crisis support, or anyone who is passionate about helping young people thrive.
You’ll provide one-on-one supervision, emotional support, crisis de-escalation, and skill-building to youth who need additional attention and stability.
Possible Coverage area: Western Maryland (Allegany County, Frederick County, Garrett County, Washington County)
Available Shifts: Full time / Part time / PRN
Monday- Friday
- Morning (8am - 4pm)
- Evening shift (4pm - 12AM)
- Over Night Shift (12AM - 8AM)
Weekend Shift : Saturday-Sunday
- Day shift: 8am - 8pm
- Over night: 8pm - 8am (12 hrs.)
Responsibilities:
Youth Supervision & Support
- Provide 1:1 supervision to assigned youth
- Maintain a calm, supportive presence in stressful moments
- Engage youth in positive, age-appropriate activities (educational, recreational, vocational)
Crisis De-escalation
- Utilize approved crisis intervention strategies
- Listen actively and avoid judgment or confrontation
- Give youth appropriate space and emotional support
- Help maintain safety for youth and their placement environment
Skills Coaching
- Teach coping strategies and emotional regulation
- Help youth recognize emotional triggers
- Support youth in avoiding overwhelming situations
Professional Expectations
- Maintain accurate documentation and communication
- Uphold DHS guidelines and placement rules
- Follow all safety, confidentiality, and boundary standards
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements
- Passion for helping others
- Curious about servant leadership
- 21+ years of age
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to work different shifts
Able to pass:
- State & federal background check
- CPS Background Check (bonus if you have a recent clearance)
- CJIS fingerprinting (bonus if you have a recent clearance)
- Proficient in English
Preferred Experience (Not Required)
- Youth residential programs
- Human services / Behavioral health
- Group homes or foster care settings
- Community youth programs
- Psychology, social work, education background
- Experience with crisis management or de-escalation
Work Environment
- Work may occur in foster homes, shelters, residential programs, or community settings
- Assignments may require travel across multiple counties in Western MD
- Opportunity for flexible shifts as 24/7 coverage will be required
Required Training (Provided if Needed)
- Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) (bonus if you have a recent training)
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) (bonus if you have a recent training)
- Safe Crisis Management (bonus if you have a recent training)
- First Aid & CPR (bonus if you have a recent training)
Ongoing Training
- Must complete two (2) annual in-service trainings (trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, youth engagement, etc.)
- Weekly clinical supervision provided by an LCSW-C
