Job Description
Job purpose - The HSE Technician II supports the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) program by ensuring compliance with applicable FAA, OSHA, EPA, and company requirements. This role performs field
inspections, manages hazardous and non-hazardous materials and waste, supports emergency
preparedness activities, maintains HSE documentation, and provides safety training to employees and
contractors. The HSE Technician II is expected to work independently across multiple work areas, identify
both obvious and non-obvious hazards, support regulatory compliance activities, and serve as the primary
program owner for the Hazardous Waste Management Program.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with established regulatory and company compliance checklists, including FAA,
OSHA, EPA, and internal HSE requirements.
Conduct routine compliance activities and assist with regulatory inspections, audits, reporting, and
corrective actions.
Serve as the designated program owner for the Hazardous Waste Management Program.
Manage hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals and materials in accordance with applicable
regulations and company procedures.
Manages hazardous and nonhazardous chemicals including adding chemicals to tanks to maintain
tank chemistry.
Maintains chemical inventory.
Manages hazardous and nonhazardous waste, including waste manifests, proper segregation and
disposal timelines, proper labeling and storage of acids/bases, solvents, paints, batteries, tank sludge
cleanout and wastewater handling, and other MRO byproducts.
Maintains waste profiles; assists with regulatory reporting and waste minimization efforts.
Identify opportunities to reduce waste generation, improve handling practices, and minimize
environmental impact.
Assist with spill response and cleanup as needed.
Assist with incident and accident investigations, including gathering information, documenting
findings, and tracking corrective actions.
Maintain the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) library and periodically audit documentation for completeness
and accuracy.
Maintain accurate HSE records, inspection documentation, training records, and other required
program documentation.
Conduct independent HSE inspections across multiple work areas. Identify routine and non-obvious
workplace hazards and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
Assist with site permit-related inspections, monitoring, and sampling activities.
Delivers standard safety training modules (PPE, HazCom, fire extinguisher use and other assigned HSE
training topics)
Distribute and maintain appropriate PPE for employees and applicable contractors.
Perform basic inspections and functional checks of safety equipment. Identify damaged, expired, or
otherwise unsuitable equipment and coordinate replacement or corrective action.
Coordinate and support emergency preparedness drills, including fire and spill-response exercises.
Lead drill execution and facilitate after-action reviews to identify opportunities for improvement.
Maintain, inspect, refill, and coordinate replacement of fire extinguishers as required.
Assist with spill response, containment, cleanup, and proper waste disposal when needed.
Assist with contractor HSE orientation and ensure contractors understand applicable site safety
requirements.
May provide informal guidance, direction, and technical support to HSE Technician I personnel.
Promote a proactive safety culture and encourage employees to identify and address workplace
hazards.
Exposure to noise, chemicals, cleaning agents, hazardous / nonhazardous waste and dust is common.
Qualifications & Requirements - (these are only some)
2-3 years of relevant experience in HSE, environmental compliance, or a related field.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience in an aerospace, with FAA, aviation, manufacturing, industrial, or similarly regulated
environment a plus.
OSHA 30 certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
Forklift certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
HAZWOPER 24 certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
