Job Description
The ER Admitting Representative plays a critical role in managing the front-line patient intake process for the emergency department. This position involves accurately registering patients, verifying insurance details, and coordinating with medical staff to ensure smooth and efficient care delivery. Working within a medium-sized team, the representative utilizes electronic health record systems such as Epic and Cerner for data management and communication.
13 Week Contract with the option to extend
Hours: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
Weekends Rotation is REQUIRED
Weekends and Holidays are Mandatory
Responsibilities
- Register patients promptly and accurately upon arrival
- Verify patient insurance information and eligibility
- Enter and maintain patient data in electronic health records
- Provide courteous and clear communication with patients and families
- Schedule appointments and manage patient records efficiently
- Coordinate with medical staff to facilitate patient flow
- Adhere to compliance standards and confidentiality policies
- Manage electronic health records using systems like Epic and Cerner
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 1 year experience in healthcare administration
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Knowledge of patient registration and medical terminology
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Attention to detail and effective time management
- Proficient in data entry and record management
