DEPARTMENT: CLAYTON DISTRIBUTION DIVISION

JOB SUMMARY
The Foreman oversees all construction activities of a crew on an assigned project segment
ensuring a focus on safety, compliance with established project plans, efficiency, and cost
management. The foreman candidate displays qualities, abilities, and leadership to supervise
personnel while overseeing the completion of a given project; the foreman candidate has proven
ability to lead, teach, and guide members of his crew. The foreman candidate practices and
communicates all safety guidelines to members of his crew. The foreman candidate must have
extensive knowledge, understanding, and skill level of operating all levels of excavation
equipment including all tire and track types. The foreman candidate has advanced knowledge of
work practices related to the pipeline construction field to support underground construction.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Organizes and monitors the work of all crew personnel for timely job completion.
- May plan, manage, and evaluate work of department staff; may make decisions regarding performance management, development and staffing levels with appropriate level approval.
- Maintains regular documentation and ensures proper paper flow to project office.
- Continually reviews progress reports and recommends changes and improvements where practicable.
- Responsible for compliance with Diversified Utility Services, LLS’s safety policies and procedures and assist in the investigation of incidents and claims as required.
- Develops means, methods, and approaches to safe and efficient completion of work using fundamentals of DUS Project Management practices.
- Responsible for all tools and equipment as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have a clean driving record. CLASS A CDL PREFERRED.
- Must pass drug screen and MVR check and background check pursuant to local, state and federal rules.
- Blue Card
- Must have Competent Person Card
- Fusion Card
- All OQ to perform this position
- Clean MVR, CLASS A CDL PREFERRED.
- Minimum of 2 years gas installation of mains and services (Plastic and Steel)
- Minimum of 6 months backhoe/mini excavator experience
- Leadership skills
- Comfortable working in a high-stress environment with extreme weather fluctuations
WORK REQUIREMENTS
WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full-time position. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. However, the hours in a day may run longer to complete a project.
Weekend work may also be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls,
and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear. The
employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste
and smell.
The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 lbs. Anything weighing more than 50 lbs.
requires a two-person lift and should not be attempted alone. Specific vision abilities required by
this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception
and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly
works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical
parts, and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. The employee is
occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of
electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment us usually loud.
TRAVEL: Local travel to various work or jobsites is required.
