The Fountain Group is currently hiring an experienced Accounting Manager for a prominent client in the information services, publishing, software, and subscription-based business industry.

Location: Waltham, MA
Pay Rate: $56–$66/hour
Schedule: Hybrid — 2–3 days per week onsite or approximately 8 days per month
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (Initial duration 6 months)
Estimated Start Date: August 31, 2026

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional with strong General Ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and people management experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical accounting background and the ability to balance hands-on accounting responsibilities with team leadership.

Candidates may also be considered for the following locations:

• Philadelphia, PA – 2005 Market St, Two Commerce Square
• Riverwoods, IL – 2700 Lake Cook Rd
• Waltham, MA – 230 Third Avenue

Preference will be given to candidates in Riverwoods and Philadelphia.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and execute assigned aspects of the month-end close and financial reporting process
• Own assigned accounting areas and ensure transactions are recorded, analyzed, and reported accurately and timely
• Review and approve balance sheet account reconciliations
• Identify, assess, and resolve accounting issues, risks, and variances
• Prepare and review financial analyses, supporting schedules, and management reporting
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting deliverables
• Maintain accounting process documentation and control documentation
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and close procedures
• Partner with Accounting, FP&A, Corporate Accounting, Tax, Internal Audit, and business stakeholders
• Manage team priorities and deliverables while maintaining quality and accountability
• Coach, develop, and provide technical guidance to accounting staff
• Support internal and external audits
• Lead process improvement, automation, and finance transformation initiatives
• Operate effectively within an accelerated 3-day close environment

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 8–10 years of progressive accounting or audit experience
• 5–7 years of recent hands-on General Ledger experience in an R2R/RTR environment
• Experience owning month-end close and financial reporting activities
• 3+ years of people management experience
• Experience coaching, developing, and evaluating accounting staff
• Experience reviewing accounting deliverables and providing technical accounting guidance
• Experience working in a shared services, multinational, or global corporate environment
• Experience operating within a controlled close and audit environment
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA
• Public accounting or external audit experience
• Experience with revenue recognition, including IFRS 15 / ASC 606
• Experience with NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics GP, or similar ERP systems
• Experience with BlackLine or similar financial close and reconciliation tools
• Experience leading process improvement, automation, or finance transformation initiatives
• Experience working in publishing, information services, software, or subscription-based business models
• Experience in a related industry is strongly preferred
• Experience working in a fast-paced, accelerated close environment
