CNC Programmer / Machinist

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer / Machinist with leadership experience who can program, set up, and operate both CNC and manual machines. This is a hands-on role that also provides technical guidance, job planning, troubleshooting, and day-to-day leadership on the shop floor.

The ideal candidate can take parts from blueprint to finished product, ensuring quality, efficiency, and adherence to machining standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes
  • Operate manual mills and lathes as needed
  • Lead and support machinists with machine setups, troubleshooting, and best practices
  • Plan jobs, prioritize work, and coordinate machine schedules
  • Review blueprints, tolerances, GD&T, and machining strategies before production
  • Perform and oversee first-article, in-process, and final inspections
  • Train and mentor machinists and machine operators
  • Adjust machine offsets, tooling, feeds, and speeds to maintain quality and productivity
  • Communicate with management, engineering, and quality teams regarding job status and production issues
  • Maintain shop safety, organization, and machining standards
  • Support continuous improvement of shop-floor processes and procedures

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of CNC machinist/programmer experience
  • Strong CAM programming experience using Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar software
  • Proven experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC mills and lathes
  • Experience operating manual mills and lathes
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a machine-shop environment
  • Strong mechanical blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
  • Proficiency with precision inspection and measurement tools
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining and setup issues independently
  • Ability to work independently while providing technical leadership to others

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Lead Machinist, CNC Lead, Shop Foreman, or Machine Shop Supervisor
  • Experience in job-shop or short-run manufacturing
  • Experience machining complex parts and working with tight tolerances
  • Experience with Haas and Fanuc controls
  • Strong knowledge of CNC tooling, feeds, speeds, and toolpath generation
  • Experience with production planning and machine scheduling

Compensation & Benefits
